I’ve kept a journal on and off for years, but over the past few months I’ve started using a dedicated physical notebook that’s completely separate from my blog or any of my social media. It’s a private space, just for me. Somewhere I can check in with myself each day without overthinking it or worrying about how it might come across to anyone else.
My journal isn’t just for pouring out my thoughts—it’s also a simple way to stay on track with daily habits. I have a little section I fill in each morning or evening where I tick off things like:
That small section helps keep me consistent. There’s something about physically ticking off those boxes that makes me feel like I’ve looked after myself, even on the quieter days. I also include a few personalised prompts that I’ve tailored to suit me. Things like:
Sometimes I write loads, sometimes it’s just a few lines. The point isn’t to be profound—it’s just to pause for a moment and reflect. Even on the most ordinary days, there’s always something small to appreciate, and I find that writing it down helps me notice those things more often. It’s not a fancy setup. Just a plain notebook and a pen. No pressure to make it look aesthetic or perfectly written. I like that it’s just for me. Quiet and honest. A place I can be a little bit messy, a little bit unfiltered, and still come away from it feeling more grounded. It’s become part of my daily routine now, and I genuinely think it’s helped with my mindset. Especially on the busy days where everything feels a bit scattered—it’s that tiny moment of calm that brings me back to myself. Comments are closed.
