Productivity & Protein: A Saturday Recap

Today has been a productive one. As I mentioned yesterday, I had a tip run planned with my dad, and this morning we got it done. I finally got rid of five black bin bags full of old clothes that had been cluttering up my cupboards and loft. It felt good to clear them out, knowing they weren’t just sitting there taking up space anymore. There’s something satisfying about having a proper clear-out—it’s like hitting a reset button for your surroundings and your mind.

Alongside my own stuff, I also helped my dad dispose of his old washing machine and install his new one. He’d been given an 8-hour delivery window for the new machine, which was supposed to arrive sometime between 2pm and 8pm. Luckily, it turned up a little earlier than expected, so I was back home by around 3pm instead of hanging around all day waiting for it.

By the time I got in, I was feeling pretty hungry, so I made myself a quick meal—beef mince and three fried eggs. Yes, I’ve officially become one of those people who eat protein bowls. Sometimes, lunch just needs to be simple, quick, and filling. With the beef mince, I also had the chance to try out my new chilli beef seasoning, and I have to say, it was really nice. I’ll definitely be using that again.

After eating, I had my protein shake and took my vitamins. I’m not massively into taking supplements since my diet already covers most of what I need, but given that I don’t get much sunlight at this time of year and considering my age, I’ve started taking vitamin C with zinc. The vitamin C is for the lack of sunlight, and the zinc is mainly to help with testosterone levels. It’s one of those small changes that might not make a massive difference day to day, but over time, it all adds up.

Once that was sorted, I gave the kitchen a wipe-down, had a quick bath, and then sat down to play Football Manager 24 for a bit. That’s when I remembered some disappointing news I’d seen yesterday—Football Manager 25 has been cancelled. I had a feeling something wasn’t right with the way they kept pushing the release date back, and now it’s been confirmed that there won’t be a new game until 2026. It’s a bit of a letdown, to be honest. FM is one of those games I always look forward to, and while I’ll still get plenty of playtime out of FM24, it’s a shame that the next version is so far away.

For my evening meal, I had a ribeye steak with roasted sweet potato and broccoli, followed by my second protein shake of the day. It was a solid meal, and I’ve been really enjoying the switch to sweet potato over white potato lately. It just feels a bit lighter but still just as satisfying.

As I write this, I’m about to find something to watch on TV. Hopefully, I can pick out a decent film I haven’t seen before and just relax for the rest of the night. It’s been a productive day, and now I’m looking forward to switching off for a few hours before bed.

I hope everyone’s had a great Saturday.
