Thursday means food shop day, but today also happens to be 1st May – local election day here in the UK. I was up early, as usual, and once my daughter had headed off to college, I got started with my Thursday workout: shoulders and arms. After that, I had a quick bath and got dressed for the day. It was a t-shirt and shorts kind of morning – we’re in the middle of a mini two-day heatwave, and I’m making the most of it.
Me and my mom went shopping about an hour later than we usually do, but before we hit the shops, we stopped off at the polling station just round the corner from my house so I could vote. I was literally in and out in about thirty seconds. It’ll be interesting to see what the election results look like tomorrow morning. Food shopping was pretty standard. Last week, I mentioned I’d branched out from my usual beef and bought some salmon for the first time. As I’ve said before, I’ve gone off most meats lately and usually just stick to beef, but I gave salmon a go for dinner yesterday and really enjoyed it. I’ve still got three more pieces in the freezer. Since the salmon went down so well, I picked up some frozen basa today. I’ve never actually heard of it before, but I’m hoping it’s just as nice. If it is, that definitely opens up a few more meal ideas going forward. Once I got home, I unpacked the shopping – which I weirdly enjoy doing. There’s something satisfying about seeing the fridge full of fresh produce. After that, I had my first meal of the day – a little picky lunch made up of sliced and buttered baguette, two types of salami, and some cheese slices that came in a little pack together. I’ve forgotten the name of those packs, but you’ll know the ones I mean. Once I’d eaten, I played a bit more of Oblivion, which I’m still absolutely loving. Before I knew it, it was time to think about my evening meal. Later on tonight, I’m planning to catch up on the latest episode of The Last of Us and wind down from the day. And that’s about it for this warm, sunny Thursday. Comments are closed.
