Wednesday: Fitness, Footwear, and Future Reads

Today was an early start for me, even though I didn’t sleep very well last night. I ended up waking up super early, and rather than tossing and turning, I decided to get up and make the most of the day.

A few days ago, I shared my new workout routine, but after looking at it properly, I realised it made more sense to switch things around a bit. Now, Mondays and Thursdays will be my upper body days, Tuesdays and Fridays will focus on lower body, and Wednesdays will be dedicated to core and conditioning. That way, it breaks up the week nicely, with Saturdays and Sundays as rest days. This morning, I got my core and conditioning workout done and out of the way first thing, which felt great.

After that, I had a long soak in the bath while reading some of Gypsy Boy by Mikey Walsh. I’ve been slowly working through it for about three months now, but that’s because I only read a few pages each time I have a bath. There’s no rush, though – it’s nice to just dip into a book for a little while each day.

Once I was out of the bath, I played some FM24 for a bit before making my first meal of the day – a cheese omelette. It’s shopping day tomorrow, so I didn’t have anything to add to it, like ham or mushrooms, but it was still decent. I’ve mentioned before that I tend to go through phases with eggs. I’ll eat them one way for months until I get put off, then switch things up. I’ve done poached eggs, scrambled eggs, and most recently part-boiled eggs, so it looks like omelettes are the go-to for now.

For dinner tonight, I’ve got steak, which I’ll have with broccoli. I started my no pasta, rice, potato, or bread diet a few days ago, so meals like steak and broccoli are what I’ll be sticking to for now. It’s a change, but I feel like it’s a manageable one.

In other news, I’ve been thinking about getting a new pair of Dr Martens for a while. I’ve been looking around over the past week and found a pair of the same Chelsea boots I already have, but in cherry red instead of black. They’re the 2976 fur-lined Grizzly Chelsea boots, and I was really tempted to buy them last night for £180. I decided to wait until the end of the month, but when I checked the site this morning, I saw they’d gone into the end-of-season sale with 30% off. That brought them down to £126 with free delivery. Not knowing how long the sale would last, I decided to snap them up.

I’m calling it an early birthday treat to myself, and they should be here in a few days.

Tomorrow, I’ve got a non-journal-style post planned, so be sure to check that out. Then on Friday, I’ll do another journal-style post to catch you up on my food shopping trip.

For now, I’m off to cook my evening meal, maybe play a bit of Hogwarts Legacy – I’ve not played it for a while – and then have an early night with my new audiobook series. I’ve already listened to the first of four books in Christine Kersey’s Pandemic series, and I’m looking forward to getting stuck into the next three.

Thanks for reading, and I hope everyone’s had a great Wednesday!
