Today has been a busy one, to say the least. As I mentioned yesterday, Thursday is my usual shopping day, and I already knew it was going to be a bigger shop than usual, with household essentials to restock alongside food. I started the day by heading to Home Bargains, where I spent £105—mostly on snacks and drinks for my daughter, but also on a few extras. I picked up two 1kg bags of protein powder, which bumped up the total a fair bit. My daughter also added a few things to the trolley, including some makeup bits, shampoo, and other bits and pieces she needed.
Next, I went to Sainsbury’s, where I do the bulk of my food shopping. I spent another £65 there, mainly on food for myself. Lately, I’ve found myself sticking mostly to beef, having temporarily gone off most other meats. So, this week’s haul included two sirloin steaks, two rump steaks, four beef burgers, some mince, and a pack of meatballs. I also stocked up on my usual fruit and vegetables, as well as a few things that don’t strictly fit into my whole food diet—like peperami's, just for a quick protein boost. After Sainsbury’s, I stopped by Poundland and spent another £15 on a few household bits before heading home. With the fridge nearly empty, I took the opportunity to give it a proper clean, bleaching it and washing the shelves and drawers before putting everything away. Once that was done, I moved on to sorting through a load of old clothes, bedding, and general clutter that had accumulated in my kitchen cupboards. In the end, I filled four extra-large bin bags. On Saturday, I’m helping my dad with a tip run to get rid of his old washing machine, so I thought I’d take advantage of the trip and clear out a few things of my own. Some of the clothes I’m getting rid of have barely been worn, but if I’m not likely to wear them, there’s no point in keeping them. Sometimes, you just have to be ruthless. After all that, I vacuumed the house and then had a quick bath. As I write this, my evening meal is cooking—my first meal of the day. I’ve pretty much cut out white potatoes lately, favouring sweet potatoes instead, but today I’m making mash with white potatoes for a change. I’m having it with rump steak, cabbage, and broccoli—nice and simple. Once that’s done and I’ve eaten, I’m looking forward to sitting down and watching Netflix. The final five episodes of Cobra Kai dropped today, which was a bit of a surprise when I saw it earlier—I’d completely forgotten it was due out. That’ll be a good way to round off the evening after a long, productive day. And that pretty much sums up my Thursday. Comments are closed.
