Sunday, 2nd February—my first post of the month. As I mentioned in my last blog, I decided to take a few days off from writing after feeling a little burnt out. My last post was on Thursday, so I had all of Friday and Saturday to step away, relax, and recharge before getting back to writing today. A couple of days to myself was exactly what I needed, and I feel a lot better for it.
Friday evening was a quiet one, which suited me perfectly. I had some good food, put my MacBook and phone down, and watched some easy-watch TV—just something light and simple to switch off my mind for a while. Taking a break from screens and giving myself permission to properly unwind made such a difference. On Saturday, I had something a bit more social planned—one of my second cousins was celebrating her 21st birthday, and she'd hired out a function room with food and a DJ for the occasion. It was really nice to see family that I don’t get to see often, including second and third cousins, aunts, uncles, great-aunts, and great-uncles. My dad was there, as well as my daughter, my sister, and my sister's kids, so it was nice to catch up with everyone. There’s something about family gatherings that reminds you of how fast time moves—kids growing up, people changing, but at the same time, that familiar connection always remains. It was a great evening, and I’m glad I went. Today, being Sunday, I had a bit of a lie-in, which felt well-earned after the past couple of weeks. I started my morning with my usual black coffee and a pint of iced water, followed by an apple and a nectarine. My first proper meal of the day was a sirloin steak with three fried eggs, keeping it simple but satisfying. For my final meal of the day, I put together a whole food version of a roast beef dinner—roast beef, of course, alongside sweet potato, broccoli, green beans, and spinach. A good, hearty meal to round off the weekend. Tonight, I’m planning on having an early night. There are a few YouTube videos I want to catch up on, and I’ll probably watch those before I sleep. I usually listen to audiobooks as I drift off, but at the moment, I’m struggling to find any decent ones that interest me. If anyone has any recommendations for good zombie or post-apocalyptic audiobooks, feel free to get in touch via Instagram with your suggestions—I’d really appreciate it. I hope everyone’s had a great weekend, whatever you’ve been up to. Comments are closed.
