It’s been a couple of days since my last blog post, which was on Wednesday—my daughter’s birthday. She had a really nice day, surrounded by friends, and ended up with a big collection of gifts and a nice bit of spending money from myself and our family. It’s always lovely to see her so happy and feeling celebrated, especially as she’s at that age where birthdays really mean a lot. We’ve still got our family meal planned for tomorrow as an extra way to celebrate. I went ahead and picked up a big chocolate birthday cake for her, too, so we’ll be bringing that out after dinner as a bit of a surprise.
Yesterday was Thursday, which means my usual food shopping day. Like always, my bill was up there at well over £100, but I made sure to stock up on all the essentials: lots of meat, fresh fruits, and vegetables. Of course, I also picked up a good amount of treats for my daughter. While watching my spending at the moment, but with all the recent celebrations, it’s been nice to feel a bit more prepared for the weekend ahead. Last night, I ended up doing something a bit different, which I hadn’t initially planned. One of my cousins was hosting a quiz night to raise money for breast cancer research at a local pub, and while I wasn’t sure if I’d go at first, I decided it might be nice to show up and lend my support. I went along with my sister and daughter, and it turned out to be a really enjoyable evening. It was great to see some of my cousins and my auntie again, catching up and just having a bit of a laugh. The quiz itself went quite well, and our team managed to come in fourth place out of around 20 teams—pretty good going, all things considered! There was a raffle afterwards, too, though we didn’t end up winning anything ourselves. But the event raised about £600 for breast cancer research, which is fantastic. It’s always heartwarming to see so many people show up for a cause like that, and it makes you realise just how much people are willing to support each other in times of need. This morning, I had my usual breakfast: scrambled eggs on a bagel, a black coffee, and a mix of fruit—plums, a banana, and an orange—as well as a pint of ice-cold water. It’s such a satisfying start to the day, and I do like the variety, though I think I might mix up the fruits next week just to keep things interesting. Later on, I plan to give the house a proper clean and tidy-up, as I didn’t get around to it yesterday with everything else going on. Getting it all done today will mean I can fully relax over the weekend without the usual household tasks hanging over me. I’m looking forward to it, as it’s shaping up to be quite a weekend between the family dinner tomorrow and just having the time to recharge a bit. I’ll be back with an update soon, but for now, that’s everything! Here’s to a productive Friday and a relaxing, enjoyable weekend ahead. This morning started early as it was my daughter’s 17th birthday. We began the day opening her presents, and I’m happy to say she loved everything I got her. She’s gone off shopping with her friends now, ready to spend her birthday money from myself and other family members. She’ll get even more presents this Saturday when we have a birthday meal with my mom. I just hope she spends her money sensibly and doesn’t blow it all at once, but I guess that’s part of being young.
Once she left for her day out, I got my workout done earlier than usual. Being Wednesday, it was core and conditioning day. I decided to skip leg day yesterday, though – my legs were still sore from Friday’s session. As I’ve mentioned before, it’s important to listen to your body, and I knew my legs needed the rest. After my workout, I realised I was running low on food. Normally, I’d have scrambled eggs on a bagel for my first meal, but I’ve run out of both. It’s food shopping day tomorrow, so I’ll restock then. I settled for pasta instead, which wasn’t bad, but not my usual breakfast choice. I’ve also run out of fruit, which is a bit annoying, but that’ll be sorted tomorrow too. After eating, I had a bath and trimmed my beard before sitting down to watch episode three of Daryl Dixon season 2. It’s a solid series so far, and I’m really enjoying it. I’ve always liked the Walking Dead universe, and this spin-off is keeping me hooked. Just before sitting down to write this, I batch-cooked a chicken curry for tonight and tomorrow’s evening meals. It’s always good to have food prepped and ready. For the rest of the afternoon, I think I’ll watch a bit of YouTube, maybe make a start on a future blog post, and then wait for my daughter to get home so I can hear all about her shopping trip and see what she’s bought. |
