Although it’s still February and perhaps a little early for spring cleaning, I decided to get a head start this year. It’s amazing how quickly things can accumulate, and tackling a deep clean now means I’ll be ahead of the game when spring finally arrives. Plus, it’s a great way to refresh the house and make it feel clean and organised.
I began my morning by moving all the furniture in both the living room and bedroom to wipe down the skirting boards. After that, I gave the whole house a good vacuum. There’s something so satisfying about having a freshly vacuumed home, and it really sets the tone for the rest of the cleaning. Next, I moved on to the kitchen and bathroom. I wiped down the skirting boards, giving them a thorough clean. I then turned my attention to the kitchen counters, moving the appliances to clean behind them and giving the surfaces a good wipe-down. In the bathroom, I gave the bath, toilet, and sink a deep scrub before mopping the floor. It’s always nice to get those areas sparkling, especially in spaces that tend to accumulate grime more easily. One of the tasks that really needed attention was the kitchen cupboards. I emptied them of all the food, plates, and other bits and bobs, then bleached the inside and wiped down the cupboard doors. After everything dried, I carefully replaced the items, being mindful to keep things neat and organised. In the process, I sorted through old towels and tea towels, tossing any that had seen better days. It’s amazing how quickly things like this pile up. Speaking of things piling up, I’ve also somehow accumulated a lot of mugs and glasses since moving into this house. I went through them and was ruthless in getting rid of any that I didn’t use anymore. It’s surprising how easy it is for these little items to sneak into your cupboards, but when you take a step back, it’s clear that some things no longer serve a purpose. I’ve been striving to live more minimally over the past few years, and cleaning out my cupboards was a perfect reminder of why I love the minimalist approach. Living without excess clutter makes everything easier. The process of being ruthless and throwing away what doesn’t serve a purpose may feel tough at times, but it’s always worth it for the calm it brings. After tackling the kitchen, I moved on to the windowsills. I gave them a proper clean with soapy boiling water and followed up with a bleach spray to get rid of any grime or dust. Then, I tackled the lampshades, wiping off the accumulated dust from each room. These jobs aren’t the most exciting, but they’re necessary for keeping a home feeling fresh and clean. It’s easy to put off these kinds of tasks, but once they’re done, it’s such a relief. While I’m not quite ready for full-on spring cleaning just yet, I’m glad to have already made a start. The house feels so much fresher and tidier, and it’s always nice to see the results of a hard day’s work. If you’re thinking about doing your own spring clean (even if it’s a little early), I highly recommend starting now. It’s a great way to get ahead and make your home feel organised and calm. Plus, there’s something deeply satisfying about clearing out the clutter and scrubbing every surface until it shines. Comments are closed.
