Monday again already. I feel like my weekend flew by this week. On Saturday, I did something a bit different—I went to watch my nephew play football. He plays for an under 7's team, so the match wasn’t too long, which was lucky because it was absolutely freezing outside. After the match, me and my dad stopped off at a pub for a quick full English breakfast, which was very much needed to warm us up. Nothing quite hits the spot like crispy bacon, sausages, and a strong cup of tea when you’ve been out in the cold.
Sunday was a pretty chill day. In the afternoon, me and my dad went to the pub for a couple of hours before I headed home. It was nice to unwind and just enjoy some quiet time, especially with how busy things have felt lately. Today started off fairly early, despite not sleeping well last night. I had quite a lot of nightmares—though listening to post-apocalyptic audiobooks before bed probably doesn’t help. At the moment, I’m listening to an audiobook called Zombie Road by David A. Simpson. It’s narrated by one of my favourite post-apocalyptic authors, Eric A. Shelman, which adds an extra layer of enjoyment. The story follows a group of truckers trying to navigate their way through a zombie apocalypse. It’s got a gritty, raw feel to it, with a mix of action and survival strategies that keep it interesting. What I really like is how it focuses on the relationships between the characters and how they band together to survive, which gives it a more personal touch than some of the more generic zombie stories. I’m about halfway through so far and really enjoying it. There’s quite a few books in this particular series, so they’ll keep me busy for a while. Despite the rough night, I got up, had my black coffee and pint of iced water, and completed my home workout. Being Monday, it was upper body focus today. After that, I quickly hoovered round, wiped down the kitchen sides, and then emptied my fridge, bleached it, and washed all the shelves inside. It’s smelling a bit bleachy now, but it’s all good. There’s something satisfying about having a sparkling clean fridge—it makes me feel like I’ve got my life together, even if just for a moment. After some tidying and cleaning, I had a bath and continued reading Frankenstein while I soaked. I’m finding it fascinating how ahead of its time the story is, especially considering how old it is. Once my bath and reading were out of the way, I got a few other jobs done before sitting down for an hour on Farming Simulator 22. I’ve been considering buying Farming Simulator 25, but in all honesty, it’s not too different from the 22 edition, which I’m still enjoying, so I’ll probably hold off until it comes to Game Pass for free. No rush when I’m still happily managing my virtual farm. After a bit of Xbox, it was time for my first meal of the day. I had roasted sweet potato left over from yesterday’s dinner, along with pork chops and three fried eggs. Shortly after that, I had an apple and then some frozen mango and pineapple. I’ve been really enjoying adding more fruit into my meals lately—it’s a nice balance to the heavier stuff. For my evening meal tonight, I had a sirloin steak, sweet potato mash, and broccoli. As I write this, it’s coming up to 8pm, so I’ll probably head to bed shortly to watch Netflix for an hour or two. I’ve been watching a German thriller called Cassandra. It’s about a family who moves into a vintage smart home, only to discover that it’s under the control of a virtual assistant—one that will stop at nothing to keep them there. It’s got a really eerie vibe, and I’m enjoying how it blends technology with psychological tension. I’m slowly working through the episodes, and it’s definitely keeping me hooked. I hope everyone’s had a great Monday. Comments are closed.
