Yesterday turned out a bit differently after I posted my blog. My dad ended up coming over, but we skipped the pub since it’s too cold out these days. Instead, we sat down to watch a film together and had a few snacks. Later, he gave my daughter a lift to her friend’s house, where she stayed overnight. She doesn’t have college until tomorrow, so I didn’t mind her staying out on a Sunday night.
Once my dad and daughter had left, I started day one of my new 30-day push, pull, and legs workout routine. The exercises for the day included lateral raises, bent-over lateral raises, chest flys, and chest presses. Tonight, I’ll be doing day two, which focuses on bicep curls, upright rows, alternating bicep curls, and shrugs. I find having a routine to follow makes a huge difference. If you’re like me and prefer visual guidance, I highly recommend Darbee.com. It’s a brilliant site with thousands of workout plans and challenges for all kinds of fitness goals and abilities. The best part is that it’s completely free to use. After I finished my workout, I had a quick bath, then stuck to my plan and had steak with broccoli for my evening meal. Later, I watched episode three of The Penguin, which I’ve been following lately, and then settled into bed with some YouTube and my audiobook. I’ve been making my way through Dead Hunger by Eric A. Shelman, and last night I listened for about an hour before calling it a night. This morning started off early, as usual. I stuck with my routine, starting the day with a black coffee and the same breakfast I’ve had for the last few days: a banana, two plums, and an apple. I also took my vitamin D effervescent tablet in a pint of water. I’ve been good about taking vitamin D over the winter months, as we don’t get enough sunlight and it’s important to stay on top of it. After breakfast, I tidied up the house. I hoovered and gave the kitchen a quick wipe down. I’ve always found that staying on top of housework is key. I can’t stand mess or clutter, and I genuinely don’t understand how people live in untidy homes. A clean and organised environment makes a world of difference to my mental health, and I’m sure many can relate to that. There’s just something about knowing your space is tidy that helps you think clearer. Once the cleaning was done, it was getting close to lunch, so I made myself a quick meal. Today it was a piece of cod with green beans, nothing fancy but healthy and simple. I had another pint of water with it, after my Reflex Active watch reminded me to drink. I’ve found this watch really helpful for keeping me on track with hydration. This morning, I posted a new blog entry giving an update on how I’ve really been doing lately. It’s something I hadn’t touched on in a while, so I wanted to catch up with my readers about my mental health and how I’ve been managing anxiety. I talked about how diet, exercise, and sticking to a routine have helped, as well as the importance of journaling and staying away from too much screen time. It felt good to share where I’m at and reflect on the positive changes I’ve made recently. If you haven’t already, feel free to check it out below this post for a deeper look into how I’m navigating things these days. After lunch, I didn’t have much on, so I spent some time researching future blog post ideas and checking my website analytics. I’m not someone who obsessively checks numbers or page views, but it was nice to see a spike in traffic. Last week, I had over 9,000 unique visits to the site, which was great to see. It’s always good to know my posts are being read and appreciated. With the afternoon moving on, I decided to watch the latest episode of Tulsa King. Episode four just came out, and it’s such a solid show—definitely one of my favourites at the moment. By the time I’d finished watching, I was getting hungry again, so I made dinner. Tonight, it was pork chops with green beans. It’s one of my go-to meals when I want something quick and satisfying. Now the evening’s winding down, and I’ve got an early start tomorrow, so I’ll probably just watch a bit of TV before getting into bed. It’s been a productive day overall, and I’m glad to have gotten a few things done, but I’m ready to settle in for the night. Comments are closed.
