As a bloke who lives in England, it's no secret that our summertime often leaves much to be desired in terms of sunshine and warmth. But, strangely enough, I love this time of year as we venture into October and prepare for the winter months. Despite the chill that will soon be in the air (we've had a strangely warm October this year), there's something undeniably enchanting about autumn in England. Here are some reasons why I've come to love this season.
Summer nights can be stifling, making it challenging to sleep comfortably. However, as the autumn chill sets in, there's an unparalleled joy in getting into a bed with cold sheets, feeling the crisp air seeping through the window, and getting a good night's rest. The cooler weather makes for the best deep sleeps. One of the most comforting aspects of October is the early darkness that descends upon us. While it may seem gloomy to some, I find solace in the way it transforms our evenings. The warm, golden glow of lamps and the flicker of candles create an atmosphere that's perfect for sitting down with a good book or putting a film on. The anticipation of Halloween is palpable in October. Need I say more. When winter arrives, it's time to embrace the world of winter fashion. Nothing quite epitomizes my perfect winter outfit of a warm sweatshirt paired with classic jeans, an overcoat and a sturdy pair of Dr. Marten boots. Autumn is a time for indulging in rich, comforting foods. It's a season of hearty soups and warming stews (perfect for my new whole food diet). The shift in culinary offerings reflects the change in weather, and there's something immensely satisfying about enjoying a hot meal as the temperature drops outside. In many ways, October marks a fresh start. It's a chance to reflect on the year so far and set new goals for the months ahead in preparation for the new year. The slower pace of autumn allows for introspection and self-improvement, whether that means starting a new hobby, committing to a fitness routine, or pursuing a creative project. Comments are closed.
