It’s been a few days since my last blog, and the week has flown by. I could’ve sworn I’d written something in between, but apparently, my last post was Tuesday. In any case, there’s been a bit of excitement this week with some new arrivals and a few small changes to my usual routine.
On Wednesday, my Christmas tree, baubles, and lights arrived from Amazon. I felt a little flash of panic seeing the box; it looked far too small for a 7-foot tree. So, just to be certain, I unpacked it and quickly put it up to make sure I hadn’t been sent the wrong size. Thankfully, it’s exactly as described—the perfect height for the space. My daughter is keen to decorate it with me, so I’ll be waiting until she has a bit of free time. It’ll be a nice little festive activity to enjoy together once we’re ready to get in the holiday spirit. Thursday, as usual, was food shopping day. This time my mom and one of my younger brothers joined me since he’s off work for a week. It’s rare that he tags along, so it was nice to catch up with him while shopping. I managed to keep the bill just under £100, which is always a relief. With plenty of snacks already stocked, I thought it would be best to let the stash dwindle down a bit before topping up again next week. Once back home, I unpacked the shopping and gave the house a good clean, following my usual routine for Thursdays. Later, I decided to indulge in something a bit different from my usual 90/10 whole-food diet. I made a “cowboy pie,” a hearty and comforting meal that I don’t make very often. It’s essentially a layer of cut-up sausages topped with baked beans and barbecue sauce, then finished with a layer of cheesy mash before being baked. I used a large dish and an entire pack of sausages, which meant I ended up with three generous portions. I had it for both lunch and dinner that day, then finished the final portion for lunch the next day. Not my usual meals, but a nice treat for a change. Friday was quite laid-back. I took some time to read a few more pages of Gypsy Boy by Mikey Walsh, a gripping book that’s hard to put down. I read a bit each time I take a bath, slowly working through it, and I’m really enjoying it. It’s no wonder it was a bestseller. Later in the evening, my dad stopped by for a bit of a catch-up. He was getting tired at home, so he thought he’d have a drive over to keep himself awake and have a change of scenery. He’s planning to play snooker tonight with a friend, so we’ll likely catch up tomorrow at the pub for a bit as well. Today, I had an early start. Being Saturday, it’s my core and conditioning day in my workout plan. Even though planks, knee-to-elbows, and sit-ups aren’t my favourites, they’re necessary to round out the routine. After finishing up, I had a quick bath and then put a clothes wash on. For my first meal, I made a 3-egg cheese and mushroom omelette, which was a nice change from my usual scrambled eggs and bagel. I didn’t have any ham on hand, but it was still tasty. After breakfast, I cleaned up the kitchen and decided to sit down to write this. Tonight, I’m not expecting anything too eventful – most likely, I’ll pick a film to watch and have a quiet night in. On another note, I’m really pleased with the overall aesthetic of my website. It’s something I’ve worked on a lot, as I’m a bit of a perfectionist with every detail, even down to font sizes and letter spacing. For the first time, I can genuinely say I’m happy with how it looks, and that’s a great feeling. That’s all for now. Wishing everyone a relaxing weekend. Comments are closed.
