Thursday has rolled around again, and as usual, it was shopping day. This morning started like most Thursdays, with my mom and I heading to our usual shops to get the weekly food shop done. I’ve been trying to keep my spending under control lately, but this week that plan went completely out of the window.
We started in Home Bargains, and before I knew it, I’d spent over £70. To be fair, I did pick up a lovely white duvet set for £23, which was a bit of a splurge but worth it. I also grabbed two 1kg pouches of protein powder for about £9 each—great value, really. Add to that some snacks for my daughter, and it’s no wonder the total crept up. Next stop was Sainsbury’s, where I spent another £55 on my usual groceries: mostly fruit, veg, and meat. It’s amazing how quickly the essentials add up. On the way home, my mom suggested we pop into a large charity shop near her. I wasn’t planning to, but I thought, why not? I love browsing charity shops, especially for books. I wasn’t disappointed! I picked up two books--The Binding by Bridget Collins and The Gargoyle by Andrew Davidson—both for just £1 each. I also found a 500-piece puzzle, which will be a nice little project to work on. The highlight of the trip, though, was what I’d call the bargain of the century. I found a brand-new, unopened Stanley flask in my favourite colour, forest green, for just £4! When I got home and checked online, I saw they retail for £45. What a steal! I’m sure I picked up something else, but I can’t quite remember what it was now. Once home, I had a quick tidy round, stripped my bed, and put my new bedding on. After that, I tackled two loads of washing. Somehow, the rest of the day just disappeared. Before I knew it, I was in the bath, and suddenly realised how late it was. It’s just gone 7pm here in the UK as I write this, and I’m about to have my evening meal of beef mince and scrambled egg. I picked up a new beef seasoning earlier, and it smells amazing, so I’m looking forward to tucking in. After that, it’ll be an early night for me. It’s been a busy but satisfying day, and I feel like I’ve managed to get a lot done. Here’s hoping tomorrow is just as productive! Comments are closed.
