I started adding stretching into my current five-day home workout routine today. It’s something I’ve been meaning to do for a while, but I finally made the decision to incorporate it properly. The main reason is simple—I want to stay supple. Strength training has been my focus for a long time, but flexibility is just as important. I don’t want to end up stiff and aching as I get older, feeling like a crooked old man years down the line.
I’ve noticed that, while my workouts are going well, my muscles sometimes feel tight afterwards. It’s not something that’s been causing major issues, but I know that if I don’t address it now, it could become a problem later. I’ve always preferred workouts that feel productive, so stretching never felt like a priority. But the more I’ve thought about it, the more I’ve realised that flexibility and mobility are just as crucial as strength and endurance. I found a routine on YouTube and have since incorporated it into my workouts, taking some elements from it to fit my needs. I kept it simple, focusing on movements that targeted the areas I use most in my workouts. It felt good to take a bit of extra time to work on my flexibility, and I could tell straight away that some areas were tighter than they should be. I’ll properly plan out which stretches I want to include and where they’ll fit best into my weekly routine, but for now, just getting started is a step in the right direction. It’s easy to overlook things like stretching when focusing on progress in other areas. But if staying strong and active for years to come is the goal, then flexibility has to be part of the plan. I want to make sure my body moves well now and in the future, and adding stretching into my routine feels like the right way to do that. Comments are closed.
